Dr. Charlotte Love was born and raised in Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Oakland University, where she conducted vision research on diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and retinopathy of prematurity, contributing to multiple published works under her maiden name. She went on to graduate with high distinction from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University.
During her undergraduate years, Dr. Love founded Oakland University’s first medical mission organization, leading multiple clinics in Central America to provide care to underserved communities. Her passion for service continued through optometry school with additional mission work in Tanzania and Honduras. Today, she remains actively involved in local outreach, including volunteering with Project Vision Hawaii.
After graduating, she moved to Hawaii and has called Waikoloa home ever since. She lives with her husband, their daughter, twin boys, and their two beloved dogs, Frankenstein and Ohia. Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking, swimming, and spending time with family and friends.

Most days you will see him snoozing in the sun, or doing tricks to get a treat. Frank is a poi dog who is family friendly and ready for any and all affection you will give him. Ohia is the second office pup at Love Aloha Eye Care. She is a rescue dog from Aloha ‘Ilio Rescue, adopted by the Loves in 2020 when she was about two years old. She was abused, so she tends to be on the shy side, but going to work has really helped her come out of her shell! She is family friendly and enjoys treats and the occasional pet. The beach is her most favorite spot; she loves to barrel roll in the sand, splash in the water and greet every dog there. Going to work is probably her second favorite activity, each morning she excitedly jumps in the car because she loves her job!
